Girls like boys
I've been told that girls like boys:who can wrestle with her and let her win...
who can talk to her about anything...
who laughs at her jokes...
a boy who puts her cold hands in his warm hoodie pockets...
who lets her use his sweatshirt for a pillow...
who buys her 25 cent rings...
who says i love you & means it...
who will kiss her in the rain, in the sunshine, and in the snow....
whos calls unexpectedly.
who will have many inside jokes with her & remembers every one...
who lets her cry on his shoulder...
who notices her haircuts....
who realizes that girls say things but don't always mean them....
who shows up at her games, slipping in the door....
who can go swimming with her on hot days.
who can tell her his problems and let her help....
who will listen to her talk about the new nail polish she got....
who will bring her seashells from the beach....
who will let her beat him up when she gets angry....
who writes love letters to her, but doesn't send them...
who draws pictures and slips them gently into her locker slot....
who saves his genuine, big smiles for her....
with deep eyes, that can see through faces into depths....
who wears baseball hats and lets her wear his too....
who gives her his t-shirt to change into & not expect it back....
who knows her favorite color, song & the color of her toothbrush....
a boy who'll shake her dad's hand & look her mother in the eye....
who will call her by her full name; first, middle and last....
a boy who will kiss her and tell her she's pretty....
a boy who will let her cry to him....
who will squeeze her hips just right....
surprises her, compliments her manicure & plays with her hair....
who knows when she has a math test or when she fails one....
a boy who smells like he just stepped out of the shower....
wears cologne that she can subtly smell when she's leaning on his shoulder....
who tells her she has a nice laugh and a smile that lights up the room..
and simply is hers to hold.
